Disease Prevention Basics
Nutrition
Maintaining good nutrition can be challenging for impoverished third world individuals, but with united efforts, not only can this be accomplished, but it is critical to disease prevention or overcoming a disease if contracted. Malnutrition does more health damage than meets the eye.
Potable Water Sources
Maintaining strict standards for safe drinking water is key to preventing a number of preventable diseases. WCMA has put together a number of inexpensive methods that will produce renewable potable water.
Basic Consistent Hygiene
Maintaining strict hygienic standards will also prevent a number of preventable diseases. Some of the simple key things to remember are washing hands before cooking, after cooking and before eating or whenever a person comes in contact with potential infectious situations. Also, making sure that all eating utensils, bowls, plates, dishes are washed and cleaned before each use with hot potable water together with proper dish washing soap.
Bed Nets
The use of bed nets will prevent many preventable diseases, especially malaria. Seek out your local Red Cross or UNICEF to acquire a free one if you cannot afford to purchase one.
Vaccines/Anti-Retroviral Medicine
Through the Sabin Vaccine Institute, people can receive an annual vaccine dose against Hookworm, River Blindness and Elephantitus. Other inexpensive Vaccines and Anit-Retroviral Medicines are becoming more and more readily available.
Healthy Life Styles
In addition to nutrition, bed nets, potable water, basic hygiene and abstinence from immoral sexual activities it is also important to maintain a healthy life style from birth to death. This means making sure you engage in daily exercises or activities that include a proper aerobic cardiovascular regimen that gets the heart rate up for at least 30-60 minutes non-stop for a minimum of three to four times per week.
Education and Training
If it vitally important to educate both children and adults in the above initiatives to improve lives but also to increase longevity of life, increase productivity and escape poverty. In addition to disease prevention education, it is also important to access general education for all, especially children. Homeschooling is an alternative if education is too expensive or not available.
Summary
The above initiatives are not exhaustive, but is an excellent starting point and will help prevent the contracting of many of the major diseases faced by impoverished nations. If all WCMA members will engage in the above initiatives, together we will make a difference in our congregations and in our communities.
WCMA encourages all Apostolic Pentecostal Christians throughout the world to donate even the smallest gift to WCMA Disease Prevention Program because it can make a life changing difference in the lives of so many impoverished fellow brothers and sisters around the world.
YHVH is concerned with the health and welfare of believers. And although most Christians believe in divine healing, disease prevention methods can be found within scripture signifying its divine importance. YHVH wants clean, pure, holy, healthy "temples".
